P'kudei
A mishkan audit All done according to GAAP* Not a detail missed
P'kudei includes yet another detailed explanation of all the work done to complete the Tabernacle. But it begins (Ex 38:21-31) with an accounting of how much gold, silver and copper was collected from the people and how that material was used in the construction of the Mishkan.*In the financial world, GAAP refers to "Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles", the rules for preparing financial statements. Here it might be an acronym for "G-d's Abode Assembly Project".This is the last portion in the Book of Exodus. It's also the end of another year of The Torah In Haiku, which began with an entry for Vayikra on March 14, 2008. Next week will mark the beginning of my 7th haiku journey through Torah.I am grateful to everyone who has encouraged me in this project and especially to the Union for Reform Judaism. They have allowed me to share my haiku on their blog for many years, which has helped to expand the reach of my small contribution to the world of Torah study. For all of these reasons, we say chazak, chazak, v'nitchazek. May we be strong, and may we continue to gather strength from one another.
