To ensure justice
Establish refuge cities
Protect the accused

So “blood avengers”
Cannot exact punishment
Without a trial

Chazak, chazak v’nitchazek
[This parasha concludes Bamidar - the 4th book of Torah]

The vows of women
May be annulled by their dads
Or by their husbands

Torah rarity
Daughters of Zelophehad
Stand for women’s rights

G-d sent an angel
But Balaam could not see it
Though his donkey could

Will you be aware
When G-d’s messenger appears
Or blind like Balaam?

Moses and Aaron
Say “Shall WE produce water”
G-d doesn’t like it

The water comes forth
So the people aren’t punished
No so their leaders

Aaron dies at Hor
Even though it was Moses
Who had hit the rock

But Moses now knows
He cannot enter the land
With those whom he led

The fire pan challenge
Ends badly for Korach’s gang
Consumed by G-d’s fire

They saw the same land
That flowed with milk and honey
But didn’t agree

Ten spies were frightened
“The people there are giants
We can’t defeat them”

The other two spies
Were Joshua and Caleb
They had faith we could

Miriam punished
She complained about Moses
With brother Aaron

We’re left to wonder
Consequences for Aaron?
There seem to be none
