Bo
Four Seder Children We read about three of them In Torah this week
Parshat Bo includes a description of the Passover observance. Three times reference is made to answering questions children may ask about it. These verses are considered the sources for three of the four children in the Haggadah. The rebellious child, who thinks the observance is for others, asks "What is this service for you?" (Exodus 12:26).The simple child, who understands little, asks simply "What does this mean?" (Exodus 13:14)For the child who is too young to ask, Torah doesn't provide a question but commands, "You shall explain to your child on that day, It is because of what God did for me when I went free from Egypt." (Exodus 13:8)Missing is the wise child, whose question is found later in Torah, "What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments mean, which Adonai our God has commanded you?" (Deuteronomy 6:20)Click here for more on the Biblical sources of the Four Children.Image from Haggadot.com
